The Victron VE.Bus BMS NG is a next‑generation battery management system designed specifically for Victron Lithium NG (LiFePO₄) batteries. It works in setups with VE.Bus inverters or inverter/chargers, and intelligently manages charge and discharge to protect cells from under‑ or over‑voltage and temperature extremes.

This BMS supports 12 V, 24 V or 48 V systems, by allowing up to 50 batteries in 12 V or 24 V banks, or up to 25 in a 48 V configuration. That gives potential storage capacities of up to 192 kWh (12 V), 384 kWh (24 V) or 128 kWh (48 V), offering scale for sizable installations. The unit integrates with VE.Bus via its two RJ45 ports, giving direct communication with Victron inverters or inverter/chargers.

It features built-in Bluetooth Smart, so you can configure, monitor and update firmware via the VictronConnect app. You’ll see battery parameters such as state of charge, individual cell voltages, temperature, warnings and alarms directly in the app, eliminating the need for separate shunts.

For system safety, the BMS delivers three key outputs:

  • a load disconnect output to control devices and prevent deep discharge,
  • a charge disconnect output to stop charging in over‑voltage or over‑temperature conditions, and
  • a pre-alarm output to warn of imminent undervoltage via a relay, buzzer or LED.

It also supports remote on/off control, enabling external control of charge and load disconnect outputs.

The enclosure is compact (approximately 23.8 mm × 94.5 mm × 105.5 mm) and weighs just 120 g. It is made of ABS, coloured matt black with a blue sticker, and rated to IP20 protection. The BMS operates reliably in a wide temperature range from –20 °C to +50 °C, making it suitable for both on‑grid and off‑grid applications. It also meets relevant industry standards: safety to EN 60950, electromagnetic emission and immunity standards, and automotive compliance with EN 50498.

In use, if any cell drops too low, the BMS will trigger a pre-alarm and shut down inverter output. If any cell exceeds safe voltage or temperature, it will stop charging via VE.Bus and isolate the charger. This ensures long-term battery health, maximises system safety and gives system designers and installers confidence in large-scale NG Li‑ion systems.
