Product Details
The Victron Energy VE.Bus BMS V2 represents the next generation in battery management technology, specifically engineered for professional installers and trade customers working with Victron Lithium Battery Smart systems. This compact battery management system provides essential protection for 12.8V and 25.6V LiFePO4 battery installations across 12V, 24V, and 48V nominal systems.
At its core, the VE.Bus BMS V2 monitors and protects individual battery cells against overvoltage, undervoltage, and temperature extremes. Working in conjunction with the integrated BTV (Balancing, Temperature and Voltage control) modules found in Victron Smart lithium batteries, this BMS delivers comprehensive cell-level protection that extends battery life and maintains system safety. The unit supports configurations of up to 20 batteries, enabling energy storage capacities reaching 84kWh in 12V systems or 102kWh in 24V and 48V installations.
This second-generation model introduces several practical improvements for installers. The slimmer ABS enclosure (23.8mm x 94.5mm x 105.5mm, weighing just 120g) with matt black finish simplifies installation in space-restricted locations. Enhanced auxiliary power terminals allow GX devices to remain operational during system shutdowns, maintaining remote diagnostic access through VRM. This proves particularly valuable when troubleshooting battery undervoltage conditions or inverter shutdowns remotely.
The BMS communicates via VE.Bus protocol with MultiPlus, Quattro, and Phoenix inverters using standard RJ45 connections. It features multiple protective outputs: the Load Disconnect terminal manages load control during cell undervoltage events, whilst the Charge Disconnect terminal prevents charging during overvoltage or overtemperature conditions. A pre-alarm output provides advance warning of imminent cell undervoltage, allowing proactive intervention before system shutdown.
Operating across a wide 9-70VDC input range, the unit draws minimal current (10mA during normal operation, reducing to 2mA at low cell voltage). The system functions reliably across temperatures from -20°C to +50°C, making it suitable for diverse installation environments from marine applications to automotive and off-grid installations.
For installers working with GX devices, the BMS V2 offers integrated system control, enabling management of VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers whilst supporting multiple control interfaces including Digital Multi Control and VE.Bus Smart dongles. Remote on/off terminals provide flexible system control options, accommodating both momentary and maintained switch configurations.
The VE.Bus BMS V2 requires a VE.Bus product in the system to function and connects exclusively with Victron Lithium Battery Smart 12.8V and 25.6V models. Firmware updates can be performed remotely via VRM or locally through VictronConnect, ensuring your installations remain current with the latest features and optimisations.
