The Victron SmartShunt 300A (SKU SHU050130050) is a compact, all-in-one battery monitor that delivers detailed battery metrics without requiring a separate display. It measures voltage and current through a 300 A / 50 mV shunt, then calculates state of charge (SoC), power, amp-hours, time remaining, and more with high precision.
This unit is suitable for systems using battery banks between 6.5 V and 70 V and supports battery capacities from 1 Ah up to 9,999 Ah, making it highly versatile for small to large battery installations. The SmartShunt draws less than 1 mA in standby, keeping its power consumption minimal.
Communication is handled via Bluetooth, allowing direct access to live data through the VictronConnect app. For system integrators, there is also a VE.Direct port for connection to Victron GX devices, enabling integration into larger energy management systems. Additionally, an auxiliary input supports monitoring of a second battery, midpoint voltage, or temperature (with optional sensor).
With its rugged design, the SmartShunt operates in a broad temperature range from –40 °C to +50 °C and can take readings from an external sensor ranging from –20 °C to +50 °C. The enclosure is rated IP21, which makes it suited for protected installations. The dimensions are compact at 44 × 120 × 44 mm, and electrical connections use M8 bolts for the shunt terminals, helping to keep the installation tidy and efficient.
Measurement accuracy is high: current resolution is 0.01 A with ±0.4 % accuracy, voltage resolution is 0.01 V with ±0.3 % accuracy, and amp-hours are accurate to ±0.1 Ah. The state of charge is precise to ±0.1 %, and time-to-go readings are accurate to ±1 minute. These metrics provide trade professionals with reliable, granular insight into battery performance and health.
