The Victron Orion-Tr Smart DC-DC Charger is a reliable, adaptive non-isolated converter designed to charge a 12 V service battery from a 24 V alternator or source. Rated at 360 W and capable of delivering a continuous 30 A output, it supports professional vehicle systems without the need for extra sensors or complex wiring.
This charger uses an adaptive 3-stage charging algorithm (bulk, absorption, float) and supports both lead-acid and lithium battery chemistries. You can fully configure the charging profile via Bluetooth using the VictronConnect app, allowing you to match the voltage requirements specified by your battery manufacturer.
It also features software-driven “engine running” detection so it knows when the alternator is active and begins charging accordingly. You have the option of a remote on/off switch by wiring a relay or a manual switch to the two-pole connector.
Built for demanding environments, the unit operates from an input voltage range of 16–35 V and delivers a nominal output of 12.2 V, with an adjustable range between 10–15 V. The unit provides up to 430 W at 25 °C and up to 360 W at 40 °C, with high efficiency of around 88 percent. It supports parallel operation so installers can combine multiple units to increase output power if required.
Mechanically, it is compact and trade-friendly, measuring approximately 130 × 186 × 80 mm and weighing about 1.6 kg. It connects via screw terminals that accept cables up to 16 mm².
