The Victron Energy Centaur Charger 12/80 (SKU CCH012080000) is a powerful and reliable three-bank 12 V battery charger, designed for demanding installations such as marine, off‑grid or industrial systems. It provides a total of 80 A output, distributed across three fully isolated outputs, allowing you to charge up to three separate battery banks simultaneously without compromise in current for any bank.
This charger supports auto‑ranging input, handling 90–265 V AC or 90–400 V DC supplies, so it works in a wide variety of global power environments. It uses a three-stage IUoU charging profile (bulk, absorption, float) for safe, efficient charging across different lead-acid battery types (Gel, AGM, Flooded). The absorption charge voltage and float voltage are temperature-compensated, using an internal sensor with –2 mV/°C per cell to maintain optimal charging under different conditions.
Built for tough environments, the Centaur 12/80 has an aluminium case with epoxy powder coating, stainless-steel fixings, and a drip shield protecting against heat, humidity and salt air corrosion. The internal circuit boards are coated with acrylic for extra protection. Cooling is managed by a temperature- and current-controlled fan, maintaining reliability when operating in extreme conditions.
Designed for battery banks of 320 Ah to 800 Ah, this charger is well suited to large or multi-bank battery systems. It uses M‑stud connections for battery terminals, ensuring a secure, high-current link.
The unit is rated IP20, with an operating temperature range from approximately –20 °C to +60 °C. It also includes protection against output short circuit and over-temperature, and is ignition protected, making it safe in vehicle or marine environments. The housing colour is aluminium‑blue (RAL 5012), matching Victron’s typical design aesthetic. Dimensions are roughly 505 × 255 × 130 mm, and the charger weighs around 12 kg, making it manageable for installers.
