The Victron SmartSolar MPPT 100/15 is a compact yet powerful solar charge controller. It supports 12 V or 24 V systems (auto-select) and delivers up to 15 A of charge current, providing excellent performance for small to medium solar‑battery installations. Its maximum PV open‑circuit voltage is 100 V, making it compatible with a wide range of solar panel configurations.
This controller uses ultra-fast Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), which constantly optimises the power drawn from the solar panels. This improves energy harvest, especially in variable lighting or partially shaded conditions. It achieves a high peak efficiency of 98 %, so more energy is converted to storage.
The unit features built-in Bluetooth Smart, which allows trade professionals and installers to set up, monitor, and update the controller using the VictronConnect app. There is also a VE.Direct port for wired communication, enabling connection to Victron GX devices or other monitoring equipment.
SmartSolar includes a load output (up to 15 A) that helps prevent battery over-discharge. It uses Victron’s BatteryLife algorithm, which adapts the load-disconnect voltage over time so that the battery can reach a full recharge at least once a week. This intelligent process helps prolong battery life, particularly in systems that rarely see a full daily recharge.
Temperature compensation is provided via an internal sensor. The controller also has protection against over-temperature, short circuit, and reverse-polarity. It operates in a broad temperature range, from −30 °C to +60 °C, and is rated to full output up to 40 °C. The enclosure has IP43 protection for electronics and IP22 for the connection area, offering trade‑grade durability in harsh environments.
The physical footprint is modest: measuring roughly 100 × 113 × 50 mm and weighing about 0.6 kg, it is ideal for tight installations on walls or in enclosures. The power terminals accommodate 6 mm² wiring, making it suitable for professional-grade cable runs. It comes with a 5-year warranty, giving installers peace of mind on serviceable projects.
